You have some great movies on your list, but that Renny Harlin entry really stands out.

It's easily the worst in the series. Beautifully shot by Storaro, but Dominion, Legion and even Boorman's incredibly flawed, yet woefully underrated Exorcist II:The Heretic blows The Beginning out of the water.
This is true & I also agree with your comments about Exorcist II. Excellent Morricone soundtrack.

I've never understood the praise for Insidious - I think it started out okay, but by the end and the over the top ending that through nearly every horror movie cliche at it's audience - I threw up my hands and said "I give up"

I so agree. After reading all the raves on this flick I expected a halfway decent film. I was bored the moment the demon showed up.

and it looked so tacky, like something you'd see in a funhouse - the whole movie felt like it was filmed while the script was being written ("oh and let's have this happen... and then... oh but we can't forget to show this... etc, etc, etc...)
