Re: DVD Talk reviews for September 24th, 2012
Never have I ever so vehemently disagreed with a review as a did with the one published for A New Leaf. While it's a fun bit of fluff that I've enjoyed for years, the final product is completely butchered and it's obvious; you can tell it's trying to bite, but you barely get a gnaw. That's not gentleness, it's neutering.
I was very surprised to see no mention of Elaine May's disdain for the film that Paramount slashed in half, but it's not completely surprising given the total lack of supplements. If any film deserved a director's restoration, this one did. May is a true gem, though. That I'll agree with. |
