Your "Hidden Gems"?
What are some movies you like that others may not know about?
Here are some of my faves Home Room - A small town is rocked by a shooting at its high school that results in nine deaths and serious injury to one popular female student, Deanna .As a detective looks for those responsible, his concentration turns to a defiant outcast named Alicia. With her involvement still in question, Alicia visits Deanna in the hospital, and the two forge a rare bond over what they saw that fateful day. Series 7: The Contenders - In the near future, six average citizens are chosen by random lottery to kill each other for the viewing enjoyment of millions. The game continues until one survivor is left standing. Saint Ralph - Ralph is a typical teenager with atypical questions, the largest of which concerns his mother. She's fallen into a coma, and the 14-year-old has set his sights on winning the 1954 Boston Marathon in a makeshift barter with God to make his mother well. His teacher, Father Hibbert ,wants to encourage his dream, but in doing so, he goes up against the reserved, ever-realistic Father Fitzpatrick. |

That's a tough one because probably most people who frequent this site know more movies than the average movie-watcher, but here are some for me (I'm not going to give synopses because I don't want to spoil for anyone):
Mysterious Skin The Way of the Gun After the Wedding Ravenous The Spanish Prisoner Frailty Mean Creek |

Exam (2009) - In this psychological thriller, eight job applicants in a guarded, windowless room are given instruction, exams and 80 minutes to answer one discerning question that may win them a prime position. But they soon discover this is no ordinary test.
Pacific Heights (1990) - Young couple Patty and Drake (Melanie Griffith and Matthew Modine) buy their dream house in San Francisco and rent out the ground floor apartment to Carter Hayes, who seems to be an ideal tenant -- until he stops paying rent, refuses to leave and barricades himself in the apartment. Michael Keaton, in a performance of creepy intensity, plays the sociopathic Carter in this tense nail-biter. *Descriptions taken from Netflix |

Love Birth. Is Idle Hands really a hidden gem? I like it too but I think it's pretty mainstream.

Re: Your "Hidden Gems"?
Christopher Nolan's "Following" is a great movie that hardly anyone has seen because it was his first film and came before the fame of Memento. There are many foreign movies that fit this category. "Old Boy" is the first one that comes to mind.

The "Coffin Joe" movies I really enjoy.

Both excellent choices! Another great hidden gem is Aventurera, starring Ninon Sevilla. |

I keep hoping this gets announced as a Criterion blu-ray. The DVD is OOP. No one I introduce to it seems to care for it, but it is one of my favs.

Re: Your "Hidden Gems"?
These are probably well known by most people here.
Triangle Troll Hunter All The Boys Love Mandy Lane Pontypool Trick 'r Treat I Saw The Devil Two other movies that are "Hidden Gems" to me are the remakes of Black Christmas and Sorority Row. Maybe it's because I went in with such low expectations. Both movies got awful reviews. But I really enjoyed them. |

Eye of God. Still the single most powerful dramatic film I've ever seen. I bawled like a baby after the first viewing, which is very rare for me when watching films. I've since watched it a dozen times at least.
