I still have to see most of these Oscar winners, either they do not stand out and takes forever to watch it or I find it completely unappealing after watching it. (Crash, Million Dollar Baby, No Country For Old Men *worst film I have seen in a long time*) After looking it up I still need to see the last four winners.

The Wizard of Oz
Batman Begins (not that I *hate* it but it's not my favorite Batman film and I like it *far* less than most)
The Dark Knight (same as for Batman Begins)
The Birds (*this* is supposed to be "horror"?)
*most* Oscar "Best Picture" films and nominees (I only like 23 of the 83 winners and only 56 of the entire listing of nominees)
Not to get too off-topic, but I would be interested to know some of your favorite? Seems like you dislike a lot of consensus classics. lol

I'll go along with CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and add ALIEN,and CHARADE (Yes, even with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, two of my favorites).

Sure... here are a few *favorites* from varying genres in no particular order - just how they came to mind:

The Thing from Another World (as well as Carpenter's The Thing)
Fiddler on the Roof
This is Spinal Tap
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (plus all sequels)
Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956 & 1978)
The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
Ben Hur (1959)
Captain Blood
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Paint Your Wagon
Stalag 17
The Great Escape
Run Silent, Run Deep
The Man who Came to Dinner
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939)
12 Monkeys
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Maltese Falcon
Some Like it Hot
A Night in Casablanca (actually *all* Marx Bros. films)

And many, many more...

Yes, I forgot the "s" on "favorites" when I posted the reply from my phone. Thanks for pointing that out in asterisks and bold.

Good picks with Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and 12 Monkeys (though looks really out of place on that list). Interesting list.

Also not a huge fan of Wes Anderson. I liked Rushmore a lot, pretty much can't stand the rest of it. Same goes for PTA. Boogie Nights was fun, but I wanted to rip my head off during Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love. Really, those two are like a personal affront to me. Even the horrible cover version of "One Is The Loneliest Number" ...

Though it's been said before, Bridesmaids. It got such good reviews and so many people swore up and down it was funny that I blind bought it. One of the only ones I have regretted. Laughed once. That's it. Thought it was crude and way too much swearing and was embarrassed that I was watching it with family.

Thanks! I tried to make sure the list reflected my vastly varying tastes.

BUT... I didn't notice the missing "s" on your post. I did the asterisks and bold to make it stick out that was a "favorites" list, not a "don't like" list. I could see someone looking at it and going "Man, you don't like *anything* do you?"

Napoleon Dynamite. I just don't get why all these people keep saying that it's hilarious. I could barely get through 30 minutes of the mess. I did manage to slug through the rest later on, but I thought my brains were going to ooze out of my ears, it was so bad. The one single thing I liked about the movie was the 70s styled house that Napoleon lived in. I didn't care about the characters so I didn't care what happened to them. There was no coherent story to speak of. And the actors weren't trying. Or maybe they were and they're just that bad ?

"Clockwork Orange" I don't know if most people do like this
movie, but I've seen articles where its referred to as some kind
of classic.

Just recently picked up a used copy. It's not completely putrid,
but this one is a real "yawner". I forgot how bad this one is.

Numero uno: Avatar. Just can't believe that people practically turned this film into a religious cult.
Forrest Gump. Mostly because it got the Oscar that Pulp Fiction should have received.
Bridesmaid. My wife and my friend's wife both loved it. I couldn't wait for it to end.
Gladiator. Bored me to tears and is my least favorite Best Picture Oscar winner.

Scarface. I just don't get it and I thought the final shootout at the end was very weak.

Good Burger is a decent kids movie. Sure, it's not some high art piece, but it's fun and entertaining to watch....and pretty good for a late 90s Nick film. Better than Harriet The Spy, that's for sure.

This I don't get. Do you generally like other crime/gangster movies?
Like "Goodfellas", "Godfather", "Once Upon A Time In America", etc.

Also....I could understand someone saying the final shootout at the
end was a little "over the top". But never heard anyone say it was "weak".

The Harry Potter films. I watched the first two and thought they were boring. I haven't watched the rest.

I watched the first one with my sister in AZ shortly after it was released and hated it, seemed like so much exposition of SFX to me at the time, and boring as shit. But then I picked up the entire series, and while the first 2 were definitely kiddie-oriented (I accepted that this time) the last 6 were progressively more grown up and serious, until the final 2-parter. I thought, all told, it was a pretty good ride, kicked some ass by the time all was said and done, we thought it was well worth our time... -kd5-
