DVD Talk review of 'Soldier in the Rain'

I read Casey Burchby's DVD review of Soldier in the Rain at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=49941 and...
I have to disagree. It's certainly not a great film, but Soldier in the Rain has a kind of charm about it. The actors, even with McQueen's disputable casting, bring something we don't always see to their roles. There is a low-key humor and genuine sense of camaraderie that can appeal to some viewers. Maybe it's an age thing: I'm old enough to remember TV fare that resembles this, as you point out even the way it's shot is like TV. It's a unique film, but perhaps old-fashioned as well. Billing it as a comedy was an error on the studio's part. Not for all tastes, but essential for fans of the main actors.
