DVD Talk review of 'Tillman Story'

I read Ryan Keefer's DVD review of Tillman Story at [URL]http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=47777[/URL.

Gen. Kensinger was the Army's designated scapegoat. But, I don't agree with lumping him in with guys like O'Neal & Baer since Kensinger was in on the cover-up. However, he wasn't the hands-on guy supervising the cover-up: Gen. Stanley McChrystal was that man.

But, McChrystal was barely a footnote in the film. The film didn't explain that McChrystal supervised the writing of the false Silver Star and fabrication of the Silver Star witness statements. Nor did it note that McChrystal "declined" to appear at the August 2007 hearing in the film.

Congress gave him a pass then, and later when they promoted him twice (a secret hearing to confirm him as Director of the Joint Staff in 2008 and a pro-forma hearing in 2009 when President Obama promoted him to commander of the Afghan War).

The film is a great intro to the Tillman story, but it lacks detail. For that, I would suggest Mary Tillman's "Boots on the Ground by Dusk" (at blurb with a preview), Jon Krakauer's "Where Men Win Glory" (paperback has more on McChrystal), johntreed website (see "military articles" about Tillman), or the feralfirefighter blog which discusses how President Obama and the Democratic Congress continued the Bush administration cover-up.

PS Change the title of your review from "Tillman Story" to "The Tillman Story" to make it easier to find with a search.

If your interested, My review of the DVD is at Amazon.
