DVD Talk review of 'Doctor Who: Planet of Fire'
I read John Sinnott's DVD review of Doctor Who: Planet of Fire at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=44014 and... There are a few things that I have to point out. First, the total run time of the 66 minutes. A minor point, but the cut material (and the new opening) actually tangle this already tangled ... well, web. Planet of Fire has never been a great story and, in fact, it has been thought to be one of the worst ever for a long time. Bad acting, mainly, mars this over complicated excuse to get rid of Kamelian and bring back the Master to ... kill him again ... and try and explain in about 3 seconds who Turlough really is. No, it's a mess. So, as a long-time fan, I can't even back this as "Recommended" unless you are a completist.
The technical comments are all true, in terms of picture and sound quality.

Thanks for correcting me on the run time of the edited version. I've corrected my review.
As for the story itself, I think we're in agreement. I thought the recut version was a waste of time and as I said in the final thoughts section: "Die-hard fans will be happy with the release... and to them it's recommended while more fair weather fans can just rent it. "
