Inexpensive (~$10) DeepDiscount 25% Sale Recommendations Thread - 2010 Edition

A-ha! I remembered doing this several years back. Thought this might be a good idea for folks who want some inexpensive, fun titles. Here's the link to the 2007 thread (which, as you'll see, you'll find a few chuckle-worthy prices, such as the OOP Paris, Texas disc for $6 and the now long-gone The Duellists for cheap):

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-reviews...7-edition.html

Caught wind of some great, inexpensive finds during the current DD <del>20%</del> 25% sale? Let the DVDTalk community know!

Granted, <del>20%</del> 25% off of cheaper DVD titles isn't what the sale is all about. However, sometimes we're looking for a quick, cheap add-on to an order. Let's see what we can find, catalog titles and all. Plus, just toss out some general, low-priced recommendations that you've been happy with!
-----

A few nice ones for 2010:

Orphan -- $6.38.
The Most Dangerous Game (remastered) -- $4.57.
Deep Red: Director's Cut -- $7.63.

Just One of the Guys - $4.76. Yes, it's 4:3, but we watched it the other night (rented to confirm) and it has to be an open matte transfer. As a result, zooming in (i.e., like it was simply a non-anamorphic title) works well, depending on your hardware. I'll be grabbing it.

Trick 'r Treat BD - $7.62. Mentioned in the Blu-ray DD thread, but this is too good to pass up. TrT isn't the second coming in terms of horror flicks (as some would have you believe), but it's a fun ride--and a great price for the BD.

I think the Rifftrax DVDs are great deals, especially the Shorts collections for 4.57 each. There are 4 different shorts collections, they are all great, if you like MST3K. The individual movies are hit or miss, although I really liked Planet of the Dinosaurs.

Another Batjac production, the superb psychological Western Track of the Cat, with Robert Mitchum, is also $4.74.

Hoping that's the case, since it's only been concretely confirmed for the UK (as far as I've read). Still, the DVD is an excellent presentation for casual fans of Jeunet or non-adopters.

PS: a little off-topic, but the paperback for Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" can be had for $5.39 after coupon. Definitely great for tacking onto any order.

This IGN article says "Release Date: US: September 30, 2010", but they list the publisher as StudioCanal, so they're obviously confusing the UK and US releases. We'll see though.

Another Batjac cheapy: Man in the Vault for $4.74 Link

Was "Recommended" in the DVDTalk review here.

Following (early Christopher Nolan) $4.76 here. Another "Recommended" review.

Couple of crime/noir double features for $4.92 apiece on this search page.

Payday with Rip Torn for $4.49.

Probably the best work he's ever done.

Also Night Moves with Gene Hackman for $4.49.

Note: This has been announced as a forthcoming Criterion disc, presumably on Blu-ray as well.

Those are fantastic prices on Payday and Night Moves. Knowing WB, both will be discontinued soon, so now is the time to pounce.

I am almost certain I started a thread like this years ago when I first really showed up here I believe, but I can't find it by searching. I was hoping to find that thread and go back and laugh at what we all considered great bargains back then.

Undisputed II: Last Man Standing for $5.72, this is a great action movie, don't be turned off by the original or the DTV stigma.

The Burrowers $7.79. Worth it for this price, not amazing but quite enjoyable.

Dirty Money $7.79 - Melville's last film (I believe), I dig the shit out of this movie, highly recommended, always cool Delon & Crenna is great in this.

OOS and back up to $10.xx which doesn't seem like a bad price either. i didn't realize how much more features are on this than DVD.

Trick 'r Treat blu is still $7.62, you just have to enter one of the promo codes after you add it to your cart.
