DVD Talk review of 'The Best of Star Trek: The Original Series'
I read David Walker's DVD review of The Best of Star Trek: The Original Series at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=37383 and...
It's a tough call. The best episodes tended to be in the first two seasons although season three had a couple of rare gems but only a couple.
As far a the visual effects I've seen the originals now in HD and the new ones in some episodes are a huge improvement over the old.
I particularly like the long shots of Vulcanon "Amok Time" and the long shot as we see Kirk, McCoy and Spock enter the arena for the first time. It opens up the show a bit and creates a more "realistic" environment.

I look at this disc as a way for someone that hasnt seen the redone TOS before to get a taste of what its about. At 9$ at Wal-Mart it a pretty cheap dip in the Trek wading pool.
