DVD Talk review of 'Let the Right One In' (Blu-ray)

I read DVD Savant's DVD review of Let the Right One In at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=36567 and...

Just got this from Netflix tonight, and I loved it. It's not really a scary film at all. Just atmospheric, and creepy. Yet very touching. It reminded me of "The Devil's Backbone" a lot. A very classy and extremely well done thriller. 9/10 rating from me. And the BD PQ was 10/10.

Ditto on all the above except I haven't seen The Devil's Backbone yet, but will now add to my queue.

i was a little disappointed by 'Backbone' so hope it won't be too much like that as i have it rented and plan on watching and looking forward to enjoying this weekend. along with zombie, vampire movies are my favorite.

Am I the only one who didn't think the PQ was that stellar on the BD? It seemed a little questionable to me at certain times.

I just watched it. I thought it was pretty good. Nice take on the vampire genre. Like the ending on the train a lot.

Did it default to English dub for everyone else on Blu? I switched to Swedish with English subs as soon as the dialogue started. When the kid was saying the first line and since it's from a famous American film I thought that part was supposed to be in English. It wasn't until we got to the school and the poor dubbing did I figure it out and make the switch.

I believe both DVD and Blu default to the terrible dub.

Maybe because it's not a horror film even if it includes horror elements. It's primarily an allegory on the Spanish Civil War and knowledge of history is essential in order to fully appreciate the film.

didn't think it was a horror movie and i have knowledge of history. the story was slow and plodding and i just didn't like the movie.

I don't know, I kind of felt like the Blu-transfer while never pops, kind of lends to the '70s feel of the movie itself. It's still an upgrade over the SD, the outdoor scenes, look gorgeous. For under $20, I love the movie so much, it's a must-own Blu-Ray.
