DVD Talk review of 'Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa' (Blu-ray)

I read Michael Zupan's DVD review of Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=36241 and...

think it needs some clarification.

This current release comes in three flavors; DVD, DVD with bonus disc, and Blu-ray. The bonus disc apparently contains two 12 minute episodes from a television series.

The back of the blu-ray package seems to indicate that this bonus is included on the blu-ray, but your review is unclear on this.

Doing some quick research, I can infer that the packaging is true and these episodes are included on the blu-ray. But shouldn't this have been clear in the review?

The issue of unique extras on DVD and Blu-ray releases is usually covered well in DVDtalk reviews. On a big release like this, with a high profile "bonus disc", it should have been clear in the review.

Hopefully I'm not coming across as too negative. It's a nice review overall, I just think that there was one huge omission.

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa' (Blu-ray)

The Blu-ray disc I had recieved had no bonus disc bundled with it. This was only a single disc. The back of the Blu-ray case does not mention any animated episodes. Just in case, I looked on the Blu-ray list of menus, and there are no animated episodes mentioned there, either. Maybe this is something they included for retail purchasing, I don't know. However, I can confirm these episodes are indeed not on the Blu-ray disc I reviewed. Does the quick research you did mean you looked up some out of date artwork for the back of the Blu-ray that maybe doubled as the DVD 2-disc art? I mean, I don't know if they changed it for retail, but I doubt it.

EDIT:

Wait, they were the two 'short films' I reviewed. I wasn't aware they were going to be a TV series. I see on the trailers portion of the disc, there is a 30 second spot for the show. I skip past trailers normally so I can get to the reviewing. I did mention these in the review:

"More Penguins - We have a couple of short films here that showcase the... I'm actually not going to dignify this with a completion! It's pretty self explanatory. They're pretty funny, although these are more geared for the kiddies than the actual film itself was."

I'll edit to inform those that these are actually TV eps. They're only like, 11-12 minutes in length, so I didn't realize they were for TV.

So, they weren't omitted, but I see what you're saying. I just didn't find the need to elaborate on them. I had no idea what the DVD sets contained.

Thanks Michael.

Yep, your edit clarifies things.

Although you might want to mention that those two episodes/shorts are the items included on the two disc DVD release.
