Excellent review! Not only did you put a lot of effort to into the review of the film, but I enjoyed your ranking on the entire series.

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Friday the 13th Part 2: Deluxe Edition'

Thanks, y'all! (Gizmo, love Spaghetti Cat!) Part 3 review should be up later tomorrow, and His Name Was Jason a few days afterward. I've always been a Friday fanatic. I can't wait to see the reboot next weekend.

I'm already thinking of shuffling my rankings--it changes so often the more I think about it (yes, I need to get a life...what's your point?). I'm comfortable with my groupings, but part of me wants to switch Part 6 above Part 4, and Part 5 above Part 3. And I'm certain the 2009 version will find it's way in the top group.

As for the bottom 3, it's nearly impossible to be sure. I ask myself, "Which one would I pop in if I had to watch it?" Part 8 is the last that has shades of the original 7, but oh lord I hate it. Jason X is awful, but in the right mind frame, it can be slightly watchable. Jason Goes to Hell...eh. Maybe Jason X needs to move up.

Decisions, decisions!

I'll freely admit that Jason Goes To Hell isn't really a 'Friday the 13th' movie, but it holds high regard in my heart. Unrated version, that is.

I have to confess that I really like Jason X among the later (New Line) films. If you take it as a sort of self-aware parody of the series, it really is kinda fun. I can understand and respect that some fans don't like post-modern ironic fun poked at their horror icons, which is probably a good part of why so many people hate X. But you have to give some points for a Cronenberg cameo and the holodeck "bimbos", don't you?

I pretty much have enjoyed all of them on their own level, even admitted stinkers like Manhattan and Hell, but the original three are head and shoulders favorites for me.

Q: How did they know Jason Vorhees had dandruff?
A: They found Head and Shoulders in his bathroom.

If you adjust the video settings on your television, you can make the 3-D look pretty damn impressive. Don't expect it to look great when you first pop the disc in.

Solid review! I too always laughed that Jason lost all his hair in what appears to be the next day after Part II...

Great set of reviews. Your rankings are very similar to mine (I'd have 2 a litter higher - I always thought is was the most suspenseful of the series).

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Friday the 13th Part 2: Deluxe Edition'

For those that care, I saw the new 2009 version tonight and have updated my rankings in the reviews of Parts 1, 2 and 3. I know I have it in the right group, but it could go up or down a spot based on future viewings. Hope you all enjoy the film!
