i need some great small-town America depictions (a la Terrence Malick, Wim Wenders)

something with stunning cinematography, timelessness, comforting atmosphere, strong use of landscape... involving American lower/middle class.. something along the lines of:

-Paris, Texas
-Don't Come Knocking
-Shotgun Stories
-George Washington
-Days of Heaven
-The Last Picture Show
-Straight Story
-The Reflecting Skin
-Dandelion
-Badlands
-Frozen River

I'm pretty sure you've already seen it based on the films you listed, but the first thing that came to mind was "Undertow" by David Gordon Green.

wow, coincidentally enough, i'm actually waiting on that film in the mail. just ordered it. i'm very excited to see it based on what i've seen from David Gordon Green so far.

I don't know that I would really call it "comforting", but the first thing that came to mind for me was 'Stroszek' by Werner Herzog.

Not very comforting but "The Sweet Hereafter" would fit the bill.

When I get homesick for small town life (upstate NY), I pull out Nobody's Fool and watch it again.

Astronaut Farmer.

One of the best use of landscape photography that I can remember. Watch it on the biggest screen you can find.
