Cobb - Anybody seen this? Good blind buy?

I was looking at sports movies to buy during Deep Discount's 20% off sale and saw the title "Cobb", which is about Ty Cobb and starring Tommy Lee Jones. There are barely any reviews of the movie and dvd on the Internet. Has anybody seen this? and would it be a good blind buy?

I watched it a long time ago - I'm sure when it was first released on VHS. All that I can recall is that Tommy Lee Jones is a miserable person - a lot of drinking, cussing, and shooting animals/deer for fun. I think it has full frontal female nudity which was a big thing for me back then. Okay, it still is. I don't remember many baseball scenes outside of him brutally sliding/drop-kicking one person. That's all that I can recall but, based on that alone, it might be worth it.

I've seen it...Tommy Lee Jones, as always, gives a solid performance. The problem here is that he plays such a dispicable human being, the movie is very hard to watch.

It also doesn't help that the talentless Robert Wuhl is the co-star. I rented it when it first hit VHS, and have never watched it again...so, IMHO, no - it's not a good blind buy.

I own it and Love the Movie. Very interesting to see what kind of life Ty Cobb supposedly led. It is worth owning

I've seen it and thought it was very good. Definitely worth a purchase if you're a baseball fan.

Did this go out of print?

Bob Costas did a special on the MLB network "Costas at the Movies" discussing the movie with Tommy Lee Jones and the director Ron Shelton.

I assume with that small gross a blu-ray release is out of the question?

Why not release it as a Blu-ray if they can include it in a 4 pack and in another 4 pack coming soon with Pride of Yankees, Fear Strikes Out, and Bang the Drum Slowly?
