DVD Talk Review of 'Jean-Luc Godard: 3-Disc Collector's Edition'

is 4x3 the correct aspect ratio for these movies??? also i was wondering if these discs are flippers or are 2 movies on one side of one of the discs? any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: IMDB lists 'First Name: Carmen' as being 1.37:1...anyone know about the other 3?

I'm unsure about the other films, but I would say that 1.37:1 is definitely the preferred, correct ratio for "Prenom: Carmen". In fact, there have been other discs that have cropped the image for a wider aspect ratio, but in my opinion it looks completely off. Check out the DVD Beaver comparisons of the prior discs, and I suspect you'll agree.

Godard strongly favors the 1.37:1 ratio for his later films.
David Bordwell examines this topic in a blog entry titled "Godard Comes in Many Shapes and Sizes."
