Which Blade Runner?

I already own the rerelease DC should I grab the 4 disc set or just the two disc?

jjcool 12-11-07 02:29 PM

Jesse Owens. Was he balde? I would imagine that would make him a little more aerodynamic.

Giles 12-11-07 02:49 PM

I don't remember Harrison Ford to be that balde either, sure he had very short hair

OldBoy 12-11-07 03:00 PM

i like Richard Lester's version over the Donner one.

dollfins1 12-11-07 03:20 PM

Bald... or balding?

Subgeniusguy 12-11-07 03:23 PM

Neither, get HD DVD.

MTRodaba2468 12-11-07 03:38 PM

I'm going for the 5-disc briefcase, myself.

And here I thought this was some sort of porn version of Blade Runner.

5-disc briefcase, most certainly.

digitalmanAZ 12-11-07 06:32 PM

Check the disc by disc breakdown at http://www.thedigitalbits.com/review...lallver01.html

Disc 3 gets you a couple extra versions of the movie and disc 4 has a boatload of extras.

I'm getting the 5-disc HD DVD set without briefcase.

pro-bassoonist 12-11-07 11:32 PM

Get the 5 disc Blu-Ray version!!

Pro-B

Johnny Zhivago 12-12-07 11:09 AM

4 disc...

Unless it's worth ~ $40 extra MSRP to you for a case and an extra disc.

mike2 12-12-07 12:21 PM

I've never seen this all the way through. I know lol it's sad. I'm thinking of blind buying it. What does everyone suggest?

I've never seen it either. Am curious as it seems to have a very rabid fanbase. Course, Ive never seen ET all the way through either, just never really interested me.

MEJHarrison 12-12-07 06:43 PM

I've never seen it at all. And I'm very much looking forward to it. But I'll have to either wait until Christmas to get it or pick it up after Christmas.

na-noo 12-19-07 02:39 AM

wohooo... 5 discs Blu-Ray version!!

Supermallet 12-19-07 04:24 AM

If you're interested in the Workprint, an excellent commentary by expert Paul M. Sammon, and a half hour featurette on the work that went into creating the Final Cut, it would be worth getting the briefcase on DVD. If you own an HD DVD or Blu-ray player, you can get the set with all five discs without the briefcase, which makes it cheaper.

Personally, I got both the HD DVD and Blu-ray briefcases.

Clockwork 12-19-07 05:01 AM

4 Disc C.E. - 4 Versions of the film + Tons of extras. Spend the extra $30+ on another DVD...or 2.

bareva 12-19-07 11:51 PM

I only wanted the final cut-so I just got me the 2 disc special edition.

NoirFan 12-20-07 12:20 AM

Decided to go for the suitcase- just looks too cool. $47.35 at CH.com - did anyone order/receive theirs from CH?

Very nice. You got two copies of the exact same encoding with a bunch of trinkets. I'm sure there's a clever reason behind that but I'm not smart enough to understand it.

mikelowry 12-22-07 05:12 AM

Definitely the 5 disc briefcase. Ordered mine at BN using discount coupon.

1. I'm a total Blade Runner fanatic. I still have laserdisc and VHS copies of this thing, even though releases have come out that have recreated the content in better quality.
2. If/when one format or the other fails, I want to make sure I own it on the more commonly supported format, in case my player of the losing format breaks down and I can't get it fixed/replaced easily.
3. I only paid for one of the sets. :)

OldBoy 12-22-07 02:43 PM

is the workprint version a fun diversion from the final cut? major differences or what?
