DVD Talk review of 'Metalocalypse - Season One'

I read Ian Jane's DVD review of Metalocalypse - Season One at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=31152 and...

It is absolutely unforgivable in this day and age that a new production be non-anamorphic. It was *almost* understandable when Lucas did with the original Star Wars movies, since he was just recycling older materials. But this is just insipid.

Excellent show, and I pretty much can't stand metal music at all. I'll just keep watching it in reruns on Adult Swim if they're going to put out sub-standard product like this.

I was in Best Buy earlier and felt compelled to look at the packaging for this for some reason. The little aspect ratio box said it was in a "standard version", meaning 4x3. Is there any possibility these are 4x3 transfers you might have been watching on a 16x9 screen stretched out? Longshot I know, but it just seemed odd to me.

thanks

According to every review of the Metalocalypse DVD I've read, it is non-anamorphic widescreen. The OAR of the show is 1.78:1; there is no 4x3 version.

I hope Warner Bros./Cartoon Network get this resolved, because the next season of Venture Bros. is being done in HD, and I don't want the 3rd season DVD's to suffer the same fate. That's quite a ways off, though.

That's a deal-breaker for me.

Me too. Such a shame because I LOVE this show, but no way I'm buying a non-anamorphic DVD set in 2007. No f'in way.

Dammit. I just found this show, really liked it and was all set to buy the DVD...

But non-anamorphic? Heck no! Consider this yet another lost sale...
