The Burning

I picked up The Burning recently, somehow I had missed this one over the years. I did like it for the most part. Anyway, I kept hearing about how people where distracted by Jason Alexander, George on Seinfeld. Actually he didn't distract me much at all. For me, a Huge distraction was Brian Backer from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, who played Mark "Rat" Ratner a year after The Burning. Everytime he was on screen, I kept expecting to see Mike Damone show up: "Hey Rat, I still have tickets left for Cheap Trick..I'll give you a great price". "Not now Damone, can't you see I'm being chased by a madman?" "Rat quit being a wussy. Hey bring him along, who doesn't want to see Robin Zander?

Sorry for my poor attempt at humor, and like I said I enjoyed much of The Burning, but when Backer was onscreen, it completely took me out of the film. I was wondering if anyone else thought about Fast Times a lot when watching the Burning?

I didn't have a prob with the casting of Brian Backer. I thought the commentary track was very enlightening I recommend it highly for fans of the film.

I don't remember anything about this movie. Would anybody consider this dvd a good blind buy?

If you consider yourself a fan of early '80s slasher films, I'd consider it an excellent blind buy.
