Best Macgyver episodes?

Hi all,

Macgyver was my hero growing up, and I finally bought season 1-6 DVD. I don't have season 7 yet because I have not found a good deal on it. But it can wait. Now..., my bf is not familiar at all with this TV show, and I'd like to introduce him to Macgyver. Any one can recommend some good episodes from season 1-6 to start him off? Last time I saw Macgyver was in the late 80's/early 90's, so I don't remember much myself. But in case someone's watched the DVDs recently, I'll take some suggestions. Thanks in advance! =)

I don't know why you bought 6 seasons if you haven't watched any episodes recently. I used to watch MacGyver when I was a kid and I remember loving it. Last year I bought season 1, I had to give it away. It was hard for me to watch all the episodes, in search of a good one. It seemed so lame now for me.

The pilot episode is kinda good. "Countdown" is pretty decent. Generally all the pretitles sequences are good, but the episode itself not.

Phoenix Under Siege - ep2-11 is pretty good... It's got a "MacGyver in Die Hard" feel to it and he makes an electro Magnet to remove a New York Lock off a door.

Countdown - ep1-14 is very good as well... it's the vacuum bomb on the cruise ship episode ("It's a Vacuum, Mac, It's a VACUUM-" BOOOOM!)

Nightmares - ep1-11 is the one where he's poisened and has to make an iron bar into a magnet to get the antidote out from the sewer... he actually makes a TON of shit in this episode, so it's a really good one for showing off the diverse amounts of cool "MacGyvering" he does.

and also, I'd say just rock the pilot episode... it's a little out of character when he fires a gun, and he's got a slight southern accent as well as a Jack Bauer Trademarked Man Purse he carries around (all stuff that got left by the wayside when the show went to series) but it's got the best opening gambit of the show and tons of cool MacGyverisms he uses to escape the lab. It's designed to introduce the character, after all.

Hope it helps!

Those are good ones.

I like:
Heist from S1 - where he has to steal back diamonds from a casino owner.
The Human Factor from S2 - Mac and Pete are testing a computerized security system that goes haywire.
Partners from S2 - first Murdoc appearance I think
Hell Week from S3 - Mac goes back to his alma mater to judge a science contest and his professor's son makes some kind of bomb.

Those are good ones, and it's pointed out a mistake I've made. The crazy century Tobots are from "The Human Factor", not the pilot. My mistake, it's been corrected. "Partners" is really good, if for no other reason than as you've mentioned, it introduces his arch nemesis.

I remember a good one involving a shitload of fire ants. I think it was a take off on Lemmening (sp) and the Ants

Haha, totally forgot about that one... it's the one with the shot in the opening credits, where he whips off that Hazmat mask that he made for himself while he's at the dam. That was probably my favorite (read: freaked me out the most) episode when I was little.

Not sure which season it is in but the 2-parter where he goes on a quest to find the Holy Grail (yes, they do admit Indy Jones did it first) was pretty good.

There is one where him and Jack get framed for an international crime at some peace conference. I can't remember much of it but I remember it was cool.
