DVD Talk review of 'The Strange World of Planet X (The Cosmic Monster)'
I read Stuart Galbraith IV's DVD review of The Strange World of Planet X (The Cosmic Monster) at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=26457 and...after comparing this DVD release to my fullscreen print it is obvious that the DVD print was mastered from a full screen print. There is significant picture area missing from the top and bottom and also on the left side. Makes me wonder if this release was LTBXed from a full screen that was mastered from an original 1:66.1 LTBX. Anyway, it is a phony and if I could post a comparison here I would.

Not sure exactly what you mean. Is your fullscreen print 16mm? 35mm?
It sounds like you're saying that you suspect the DVD was derived from a full frame, essentially cropped TV print itself derived from a 1.66:1 hard matte theatrical print, hence the missing picture information you say is missing on all four sides.
I don't think that's the case, however. The framing of the titles, actors, etc. appeared correct, though it's possible a modest amount of picture information was lost on the sides.
