What are the best educational DVDs?

With the immient release of Planet Earth coming soon, I thought I would get some opinions on what some of the best DVDs are for education purposes(i.e. documentaries). Here are some that I have in my colection, but I LOVE learning, and its also aids as something I can show my class that adds to the visual representation of what we are studying at the time.

Here is what I have:

1. Carl Sagan's- Cosmos
2. Ken Burns-The Civil War
3. Ken Burns- The West
4. The Blue Planet
5. Planet Earth(preorder)
6. The Complete School House Rock
7. The World at War
8. For All Mankind
9. From Earth to the Moon
10. Ken Burns' - Jazz

Whatare some other educational DVDs that you would reccomend I check out that would be create for slef viewing as well as aiding in the classroom?

Those IMAX nature movies that found there way onto DVD. Like the Volcanos of the Deep, and the Under the Living Sea.

I really enjoyed Ken Burns 'Lewis and Clark'. Pretty much anything put out by PBS, National Geographic, or The History Channel.

March of the Penguins
Standing in the Shadows of Motown

http://www.oilcrashmovie.com/ (released by Mongrel Media)

The Civilization series (BBC)

The upcoming History of Cinema (Godard)
http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/je...a-p-11570.html

and so on...if you could narrow it down to a relatively smaller topic (nature, politics, art)...then I could be very specific. It would also help if you let me know whether or not you are region-free.

Ciao,

I am not region free. I am Region 1. I have both a Blu ray player and an unpconvert DVD player. I am interested in the following topics.

1. Space Exploration- I love anything that has to do with planets, black holes, uncharted worlds.
2. Nature- Anything with David Attenborough. I wish that wonderful Region 2 "Life Collection" would get released here in the States.
3.History- Rome, Greece, the Egyptians, the Mesopetamians, I love it all.... Definetly one of my favorite subjects
4.Science- Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Physics...still interested but it would have to be a GREAT series for me to sit through.
5.The Arts- I love Music of all genres(especially Classical and Opera). I love the Theatre and I love Art(Van Gough, DE Maybe a boxset on the history or evolution of any of these?
6. Enviornmentally Concious- Films like An Inconvient Truth and Who Killed the Electric Car? I love raising peoples awarness on how to help be stewards of our planet.
7. Special Education- I am huge fan of helping special needs students. I would love to see a boxset or films that maybe assist or help instruct with kids that have Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, TBI(Traumatic Brain Injury), Downs Syndrome. or that just deal with the subject all together. I remember seeing one that HBO did awhile ago called "Educating Peter", and later "Graduating Peter"....films like that.

I also love huge boxsets on topics like Ken Burns and David Attenborough have done. I love learning, and adding visual aids to my classroom.

I hope that helps my friend
