DVD Talk review of 'Dream Theater- Score: 20th Anniversary World Tour Live with the Octavarium Orchestra'

I read Louis Howard's DVD review of Dream Theater- Score: 20th Anniversary World Tour Live with the Octavarium Orchestra at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=23410 and...

sorry to ask, but is the disc anamorphic? Sounds like a great disc. You should check out the studio material if you liked the music.

Yes the disc is anamorphic, as far as I can tell. As mentioned, I don't have the packaging so I can only go by what I see rather than the printed specs. What I picked up as far as info I garnered from Amazon. Not often I come across a disc that is 1.77:1 in my collection! I'll probably keep my eyes open for their new CD and check it out

I don't really know anything about this band, but have been interested for the past few years. It seems to be something I would be interested in, but haven't felt like spending ~%15 for something I might like.

Is this disc a good representation of the band, and would it be a good jumping off point?

I haven't heard this one yet. But looking at the set list, they're including a lot of material from their newest album, which IMO is one of their weaker albums. Still, I might pick up the CD version of this, since I'm kind of intrigued to hear them work with a full orchestra.

Live at Budokan is probably a better introduction to Dream Theater, since it includes some of their best material. Also note that you can stream most of their albums for free at Napster.com, though the sound quality isn't the greatest.
