The Muppet Show Season 1
I can't decide whether to buy this blind (I really don't remember much of the original Muppet show - I was only born in '82) or just rent it to check it out. I did like the 90's spin-off "Muppets Tonight!" though, was this ever shown in the US?

There is a big Muppet thread around here somewhere but a quick answer. The muppets don't seem to age. They hold up rather well. I've probably watched the set 3 times with my daughter(she loves them).
The pic quality is amazing for such an old show. They did a fabulous job on it. Hopefully we see season 2 this fall.
Yes, Muppets Tonight! was on here. I enjoyed that one as well. I remember Henson going on Arsenio to promote it(took the Jamaican muppet with the dreads), good stuff. Probably one of the last interviews he did. Hopefully they can add it as a feature when they release that show.

You know there's a rule against post "Posting complete nonsense, gibberish or using the forum to play posting games."
Personally I would highly recommend it. If you seriously aren't sure whether or not to buy this blind though it really should go in the review/recommendation forum.

Snowmaker,
Huh?
Thanks Michael, sorry I didnt do a search. Are you sure you saw Jim Henson promoting it? It first premiered (in the UK anyway) in 1996, and Jim Henson died in November 1990, that doesnt make sense to me, unless he came up with the idea years before and it took years to be made.
I'll check the discs out first via my rental service and see if I like it, if I do, its bought

I loved The Muppets when I was a kid in the 1970s.
I don't have season 1. But people say the characters were still in development, and the opening is different.
However, everyone who owns it says it's great.
I'm not a completist. I do plan to buy season 2, and maybe season 5. Those 2 seasons have my favorite guest stars.
Here's a list of guests on all the episodes:

I'm worried about the overlapping discs. How's that going? Does it damage the discs?

Trust me, the discs are fine. My wife watches at least one of these a day since they came out last year, not a single issue on any disc (as much as I wouldn't mind them taking a vacation for a while).

After appearing on the 'Arsenio Hall Show' in May 1990, he developed walking pneumonia but never told anybody because true to his character, he didn't want to be a burden to anybody.

side) to sit in, with the bottom disc's spot being lower, like a 2 tiered stair
step. As such, the hub in the center of the top disc is too high to allow
the discs to actually hit each other. You'd have to press down on the
outer edge of the top disc for it to be able to make contact with the other.
And you really can't even do that, as the hub for the lower disc is designed
to act as a rest for the overlapping rim (it's curved with a flatened out section).
