DVD Talk review of 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (Season 1 - Volume 1)'

I read Stuart Galbraith IV's DVD review of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (Season 1 - Volume 1) at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=20087 and...

I have to agree with the great bulk of it. This show now looks better than it probably ever has.

I was fortunate enough to get an early delivery of this set last Friday, and have watched the bulk of the first disc. Most of the scenes filmed specifically for the episodes are sharp and clear without too many "old film" distractions. I did notice some vertical scratches in one scene.

The graininess tends to occur on scenes lifted from the movie version or other stock footage, and also on any process shots.

For those who remember the show, this is a great day. For the curious, this first season is the one to sample as the stories tend toward the serious and gripping. The third episode "The Fear Makers" is about as tense and dramatic as any hour of television has ever been, with outstanding acting from all involved.
