DVD Talk review of 'The Devil's Rejects'

I read Ian Jane's DVD review of The Devil's Rejects at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=18504 and...really good review. It makes me want to check the 2-disc out. Hopefully, it will be available for rent. I saw this in the theater and it just wasn't as sadistic as I was expecting. It is more the clan on the run. I would have liked more sadism, like they exuded in the 1st film. They were in control and it was fun (though not an entirely great movie either). I like that, on the run...not so much.

Also, Ian, how could you forget the star of the "B" list heroes...Priscilla Barnes!!

from a dvdtalk thread
Spoiler:

- 3-4 more shots of the body Tiny is dragging in the beginning, including some fairly graphic ones.

- An overhead shot of Otis + the cheerleader in bed, with complete nudity (theatrical version only had a quick side shot of this).

- About 2-3 more shots of Wendy before Otis throws her on the bed, along with another shot of her on her hands + knees when he throws her there. (even more nudity)

- Longer scene with Otis, Gloria, and the gun in the hotel. Explains a little better exactly what he does to her.

- When Roy gets his head clubbed, I think the camera lingered on the aftermath for an extra 1-2 seconds (not long).

when the girl gets creamed by the truck, you can see more shots of the aftermath including entrails

So can I check this out without seeing House first? Is The Devil's Rejects a sequel? I never saw House but I plan on picking it up at Best Buy for the two for $20 deal tomorrow.

Yes, Devil's Rejects is a sequel to House of 1,000 Corpses. You should be able to follow the story pretty easily without having seen the original, though. These movies aren't exactly renowned for the quality of their scripting.

Is there a slipcover with this release?

And, is there an 'R' rated version or just 'Unrated'?

Unrated widescreen or R-rated full-frame.

no slipcover. I know there was a lot of confusion about that because a lot of websites reviewing this DVD had pictured a different cover (the last supper cover) than the final cover.

Wow, what a deal that was. I couldn't believe it when I stopped into BB yesterday. People - take advantage of this offer. I had to ask the cashier twice if there was some kind of store error. Shame on me.

Is there something I'm missing on the deleted scenes? My copy only had about 5 minutes of deleted scenes. The review says the first deleted scene was 46 minutes!!!

I think he meant to say 46 seconds in his review.
