They did that with Revelations too.

Universal just sucks, I guess.

How can the reviewer recommend a disc that clearly should have been an anamorphic release? That totally kills it for me regardless of how good the show is.

How? I just balanced how incredible the show is, versus how disappointing the presentation is.

With anamorphic transfers: Highly Recommended (the extras are still a bit weak)
Anamorphic transfers on an OK show: Rent it

No anamorphic/great show: Recommended

It may not fill your screen the way you (or I) want it to, but it's a must-watch show.

Agree about the quality of the show. But I have to disagree with the recommendation --it would be a "Netflix it" for me. No Anamorphic = No Sale for me. Let's see, they gave us flippers AND non-anamorphic treatment?!? It'd be one thing if they MSRP'd at say $30.

I was upset when I first read the review and found out that the transfer was letterboxed widescreen. After thinking about I realized that I should thank Universal for making my decision to not buy the set that much easier. Instead, I can use that money to buy DVDs from studios that have enough respect for their customers (or at least business sense) to release high-def TV shows on DVD in anamorphic widesceen.

House M.D. is one of my favorite TV shows but I wouldn't but this DVD set at any price.

Before I got a widescreen TV for Christmas, I guess I never truly recognized the hoopla surrounding anamorphic widescreen. I just got around to viewing the first episodes of House M.D., and it is stretched to fill the screen and is absolutely distracting. Add to that the woes of the flipper discs, and I don't know whether to return or keep watching. Does anyone know if Universal plans on re-releasing this season correctly, or should I just move on to another show?

I wasn't going to buy this until they fixed that issue, but then I found it at FYE for $16.99 and went ahead and bought it.

They won't announce a corrected version until the day I open the set.
