DVD Talk review of 'Knots'

I read Francis Rizzo III's DVD review of Knots at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=16394 and... boy did he miss the boat. I rented this film and really enjoyed it. I rent a lot of indy comedies and while Knots isn't perfect, it's far smarter than most. What? Did the filmmakers steal your girlfriend or something, Frank?

I've enjoyed imperfect movies before also. Enjoyment isn't really what I look to reflect in my reviews. I just want to give readers an idea of what to expect from a movie.

Looking back at my "Bottom Line," I don't think I was very harsh, and in fact said "there's just something off about it," which is about as negative as I get (about the movie. Some of the actors are another story.) Yes, I graded it as a "Rent it" but that's still infinitely better than "Skip It". In my critical tongue, "Rent it" is about equivalent to "You probably wouldn't change the channel when running across it on cable, would watch the whole thing, and then forget about it until the next time it was on cable." If all filmmakers achieved such heights, this would be a better place to live.

I saw Knots at SXSW04, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I was a bit disappointed to see that Franky didn't dig it all that much, but hey, he made his reasons crystal clear.
