ive seen bits and pieces of it on tcm, and would love to own the movie, but i am wondering if it was restored or not? maybe not citizen kane/casablanca restoration, but something that looks decent, and with very little hissing and poping in the soundtrack.

G. Noel Gross is writing the review for DVD Talk. I don't see any reviews currently listed at DVD Basen.

If you are looking at this thread then FREAKS is essential viewing. I have probably watched this movie 25=50 times in whole or in part over he last 20-30 years, including theater, tv and video, and everytime i see something new. I bought the dvd yesterday, and could go into a long explanation of how amazing it is but please, find out for yourself. I scanned through the chapters tonight during the olympics and kept getting sucked in by the wonderful Hilton Sisters and the other alleged "freaks" This is not jerry Springer territory, freaks are people too, and damn if i don't get misty-eyed whenever i see schlitzie and the pinheads, and think ''there but for fortune."
Freaks was rleased in 1932 but could be bumped up to 2004 with no problem.

This seems interesting, but does this movie glorify looking at disfigured and "weird-looking" individuals? I mean I don't tend to do that in public as I deem it to be most disrespectful and highly inconsiderate. Is this movie like that or am I reading too much into it?? And why is it so re-watchable? Thanks for help.
