DVD Talk review of 'Too Hot to Handle'

I read Carl Davis's DVD review of Too Hot to Handle at [URL]http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=11805[/URL.. ] Koch's release is in B/W, but what Davis fails to mention is that this movie was originally shot in glorious Eastmancolor. 'Not a full restoration' - I couldn't agree moore.

Boy, is my face red. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I always try and research movies I review that I am not as familiar with, and I thought I had done that with <b>Too Hot To Handle</b>.

After you pointed out that it was shot in Eastmancolor, I did some more research and found that there were also two versions of the film. The British version, <b>Too Hot To Handle</b>, which was where the film was made and which contained many more risque moments as well as partial nudity during the dance numbers. And the American version, <b>Playgirl After Dark</b>, which contained alternate versions of the dance numbers found throughout the film. I believe that both versions were released in Eastmancolor, but a monochrome print was struck for television broadcast.

It's this edited, monochrome print that Koch Vision has taken their transfer from. As a result, I have downgraded my rating from a 'Recommended', to a 'Rent It'. I feel that, storywise, it's still worth a look for fans and the curious, but really hope a quality DVD transfer of the restored UK, Eastmancolor version will be made available.
