Das Boot Uncut? (Miniseries Version)

I just saw the Director's Cut tonight and was floored, so I'm planning on picking up either the Superbit or the Uncut version. Would anybody who's seen the Uncut version be willing to comment?

(Sony's site lists "a making-of featurette and the Director's Cut!" under features -- this doesn't mean it includes the 209-minute version with seamless branching, does it?)

I personally own both, the Uncut version for all the footage, the Superbit for the stunning 5.1 DTS sound, that I have gathered from reviews of the Uncut version is vastly superior to the soundmix on the Director's cut.

Giles,

Thank you - your post has (finally) made me stay away off the R1 SuperBit version with ugly yellow subtitles... )) So, I'll go either for R2 or R4 version...

The Uncut version is worth watching if you've seen the DC and/or the Superbit (which is the best audio/video treatment of the film, bar none).

The Uncut has a weak sound mix, imo, and the extras are ported over from an earlier release.

And that's a 'no' to seamless branching

Here's my full review , if you're bored

I also like the DVD cover for the Region 2 UK release:

[ponders whether to sell the Region 1 edition and buy the R2...hmmm)

Get the Superbit version, you will want the 5.1 DTS sound and superior picture.

okay wait a sec, I am confusing you and myself here:

the bad subtitles are on the Miniseries cut of the film. The Superbit version is fine, since obviousily it has the best audio/video of the three versions.

But what about the quality of the miniseries version? I have the Directors Cut and enjoyed it immensely.
With the extra two hours of footage, is it mostly padding, or are we talking LotR's EE quality here?
