Review Wanted: Touching the Void (6-15-04)

Watched the trailer to this on the Bubba-Ho-Tep dvd and looks like it might be pretty good. If anyone knows where a review is on this please post it. Thanks

Probably one of the best films I've seen all year. This is a "docu-drama"/reinactment (complete with interviews from the actual climbing duo involved) and, as a result, viewers who aren't familiar with the story will certainly figure how it ends from moments in. Without giving much away, I think this is still one of the most gripping, terrifying films I've seen in ages - it builds to the main moment superbly, then piles obstacle upon obstacle in the character's way. It puts the viewer into the situation and doesn't - or at least it didn't seem to - pull punches in the way it depicts the on-screen events.

Beautifully filmed and directed superbly by Kevin MacDonald ("One Day In September"), I strongly recommend the film.

The DVD is out 6-15.

When I received this I wasn't expecting a lot, but it blew me away. I highly recommend it.

This movie was as good as I'd heard... actually, better than I'd heard. I feel like anything I say would spoil it, but I think its fair to say that its an awsome, haunting and inspirational journey captured beautifully. And some of the shots in the movie are simply inconceivable, yet its happening before your eyes. I plan on purchasing this movie.
