DVD Talk review of 'Wizards'

I read Ian Jane's DVD review of Wizards at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=10752 and...
This is the first time I've ever seen anyone describe Wizards as "family friendly".:D

Ian Jane 05-18-04 10:25 AM

Bakshi's words, not mine! He was, according to the commentary track, trying to make a family movie.

Interesting.

I like this movie alot, just because it's so odd and works on a number of different levels.

I saw the DVD early, plus the extra interview on Bakshi.

Wow. It's amazing to finally hear him talk...and boy can he talk! Can't wait to hear the commentary.

But I would give the film and the video quality higher ratings...there's nothing else like it in all of animation (which I consider a good thing) and Fox did its utmost with the aged source material. I think its rough 2-D style is really beautiful, personally.

Taking issue with the review for a moment..."Star Wards"? "Blackwell"?

And I would hardly call LOTR Bakshi's most "infamous," but definitely his worst. The two fitting the former description definitely have to be Fritz and Coonskin (here's hoping someone has the guts to put out a DVD of that one!).

I don't think that was the intent. It's just that the punctuation in the sentence is a little awkward:

"Made in between his most infamous film, Fritz The Cat and Lord of the Rings"

It would probably be better worded as:

"Made in between his most infamous film (Fritz The Cat) and Lord of the Rings"
