Swimming Pool: Good Blind Buy??

I realize this disc doesn't come out until the 13th, but based on the merits of the film itself, would it make a good blind buy?
Any advice would be appreciated.

As always, it depends on your taste. If you're a fan of Ozon or French films in general, definitely. Check out imdb.com for details.

...FWIW: the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops gave this movie an "O" (for "Morally Offensive")...

I've been hearing the ending is a let down. Does anyone else agree? Also, does the movie have good replay value?

Yes, I agree, it's a let down. It could have been much better with a different plot spin ot two. I wouldn't watch it again.

I thought the ending was perfect myself. At first I was disappointed but it made me think and the more I thought about it,the more the whole thing made sense and made me want to watch it again. (I think I got through all that without the need of a spoiler tag.)

I'd say it's definitely not a movie you'd want to blind-buy. I thought it was pretty solid film overall, but I think seeing the ending once is enough. After you know what's going to happen, I don't think it's really a film that's going to entertain on multiple views. I do love French stuff, so I would consider buying it on that alone, but I doubt I ever will.

I have had it pre-oredered for almost 2 1/2 months now. Needless to say an Ozon film with L.Sagnier....sold!!

As to the Catholic Bishops and their forum...shall I send them a copy of The Crime of Padre Amaro....or shall I just pass?

Do you like topless young French girls? If so, give the movie at least a rental!

Ludivine Sagnier is the RIPEST young actress I've seen in a looooong time. I saw Water Drops on Burning Rocks on the International Channel of all places and foolishly paid MSRP $30 for the R1 DVD just for her 10 minutes on screen. I didn't think to look at DDDhouse for the cheap HK version. I have only seen the clips from Swimming Pool in the newsgroups but will buy this DVD.

Sagnier is topless for about 90% of her scenes in Swimming Pool, and she is in the movie a whole hell of a lot more than 10 minutes!

I should add: The movie is good for other reasons than just its extended nudity.

Anyone know how much extra footage is in the unrated version?

I thought it was well-acted by Rampling and Savignier and it was suspenseful.

Yes, there's lots of nudity. But it's well written and the story is good.

Highly Recommended !!!

I just finished it a minute ago and have to say it was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. No, I'm not an idiot and yes, I do get it but still didn't like it. I HATE the ending yet I must admit I didn't see it coming to an end like thaat. I say rent it. As of right now it was barely worth a $o.50 DVD+R. It seems to me like one of those movies that a week from now I might say was decent to good so I wanted to respond to the OP while I was still angry!
By the way. JDF5244 did you see it yet? What were your thoughts?
