DVD Talk review of 'South Park:Complete Third Season'

I read John Sinnott's DVD review of South Park:Complete Third Season at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=8735 and...

I was never able to pick them up, but most fans say the full length commentaries that were with the first season were pretty good and pretty funny. Since there were zero (0) commentaries on the second season, I'd bet they struck a deal with Trey and Matt to record some comments for this one, and then just choose the best ones.

Here's hoping they'll work out the issue one day and rerelease the first season with the commentaries on the DVD.

The commentaries on this set are scene specific and come at the begining of the shows. Matt and Trey mention that they came up with the idea for mini-commentaries becuase the DVD producors wanted them to do a full commentary for one episode and they thought that they wouldn't be able to fill the whole time with comments. All together, they talk for about half an hour.

I was never able to hear the commentaries on the first season, I waited about 18 seconds before I sent in for the CDs and never received them. So, unfortunately, I can't compare them.

Are they planning on ending the series soon? or are they still going strong? I guess I'm going to have lots of South Park DVDs.

I believe they have a year or two left with their contract.

Back on topic - I love this season and the set. The mini-commentaries are great, and over too soon. Matt & Trey always do great commentaries and I wish they'd just cave in and do full length ones like for S1. But if not, the Mini's are better than nothing.
