Ditto, would like to get a review before I pick this up. Just wondering how well they cleaned up the A/V.

G. Noel Gross will be writing a review for DVD Talk. Dunno if it's on his agenda for his next column, but there might be something up at the end of this week. As far as I know, no other site has reviewed it, although screeners were distributed around a week and a half ago.

Joblo has one up

I got mine last night, and nothing was cut. Although Arnold does explain what is true and false about the movie.

Video looks very good. Much better than it's ever looked before.

Audio is NOT 5.1. It's center channel mono. This is all anyone should expect from a 26-year-old doc recorded in mono...but all the advertising, as well as the back cover say 5.1 and it plays in 5.1 mode. There's also a Surround track. As far as I can tell, both are plain old center channel mono. (I mixed it into all speakers anyway.)

Extras are excellent, though I would've loved to see more of the many hours of outtakes. Next edition, I guess. The extras are mostly what was shown on Cinemax with a few additions, including a new interview with Arnold.

All in all, a great DVD.

I just watched this tonight and the video looks good considering the age, source material, etc.

Overall, a very good disc -- lots of good extras. And, I only paid $12.99 for it. No-brainer.

Pumping Iron has never looked better! It's amazing how well they cleaned up the transfer on this new DVD release. Also it contains the entire, uncut, version. As stated earlier the sound says 5.1 but actually is mono centre speaker. Despite this, the sound comes in with great clarity and the great cheesy 70s music sounds great with a little bass here and there.

Extras were fun to watch! I especially enjoyed the documentary which all the bodybuilders from the cast reunite and discuss the fun they had making this "docudrama", as Arnold calls it. I did think it was funny how Arnold covered himself up to make himself appear in a better light. One last thing, try watching the documentary with subtitles on, sometimes you can catch hiliarious dialogue that's sometimes hard to hear.

All in all, a GREAT package, and was well worth it for $12.99 at CC.

If you're an Arnold fan this is a "must have" DVD. PI has never looked better, but the sound is digital mono not 5.1 as stated on the cover.
