LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring Extened or Not
Quick question. I currently have the theatrical DVD of Fellowship of the Ring and pre-oredered the Two Towers Extended Edition. Is it really worth it to have the Fellowship extended edition too, or it really doesn't enhance much.
Thanks |
Yes. The extras are different.
|
besides the extra (I usually just watch those once) What about the film itself it the extra scences worth it? Is the transfer bitrate better or audio??
Thanks |
The DTS track alone is reason enough for me. That is, if you're DTS-capable. If not, the appendices are a blast to watch.
|
Most people are going to tell you yes. The best thing for you to do, however, is to read reviews on sites (like this one, TheDigitalBits, DVDFile). They will all discuss and compare it to the theatrical cut.
And yes, the audio (DTS) and video are improved. -HM |
It has DTS, the added scenes make the movie flow better (in my opinion) and the extras and commentaries are interesting.
It's a no-brainer if you ask me. |
I do it mainly for the commentaries. So that's my reason to get it.\
And the FOTR: EE DVD is by far the best looking thing I've ever...best movie to show off just because it looks and sounds so damn good. I expect the same with The Two Towers |
The EE is a bit slim on features, but it's okay I guess. The extra scenes are kinda lame. Just people talking, not a lot of extra action so I just ff through.

A bit slim on features? Like what? It's two whole discs of extras!

Personally I hate having to switch discs in the middle of a film so I appreciate the theatrical versions being released on one disc. I bought the extended version as well, and really enjoy the extra shots but i don't watch it as much as the theatrical because of the disc switch. So there is that to take into account. From a purly is it worth it standpoint....Yes it is.
IMO. |

Run and Buy It.
The best DVD in the history!!! PD: Im a LOTR fan :-) |
EE is the only way to go.
I have both, but I watch the EE 99% of the time. I will lend out the Non-EE version if someone wants to watch TLOTR. |
Buy the Extended Cut and youll never watch the original version again. Trust me. I didn't believe it myself until it happened to me.
|
Thanks for all the info. You all have made me a believer. I ordered the Extended Cut yesterday!
|
I never want to watch the theatrical cut again (which is why I only have the extended cut). The extended is definitely better.
|
Cut. Bad. Extended. Good.
|
No offense, but why anyone would buy the 2 disc is beyond me. I guess if you had no patience it makes a little sense, but that's what Blockbuster is for. The 4 disc FOTR is still, bar none, the best DVD around.
|
the 2-disc is for those of us who want a theatrical release to go along with the extended
|
I bought 2 disc when it came out cause I figured it really wouldn't enhance the story to much...unfortunetly I realise my mistake now. Luckily I didn't do this with the Two Towers.
|
I own both versions because I love the movie, but I only lend out the original. The extended cut is freakin awesome. The extra scenes go a long way towards explaining certain aspects that may have left some people puzzled.
