Repulsion review?
I saw this movie once about 15 years ago and remember liking it. DDD has it for $5.99 and I'm inclined to pick it up but I can't find any information about the quality of the actual disk. I did a search on this site and didn't come up with anything relevant.
It appears that there is a decent anamorphic R2 version with Polanski commentary but I can't find anything specific about the R1 disk.
Can anyone give a quick review? Thanks.

Also, the R1 Koch version was yanked off the US market after it was discovered that the rights hadn't been cleared. So it's kind of a bootleg, or at least an unauthorized release...

It is not available from DDD. This title (Koch Cinema Sirens Repulsion) has been OOP for a while.
Here is a completed auction:

Click on "Buy Now" and you'll be told that the item is out of stock and will ship when available. Which is the 3rd of never. Because it's out of print.
The R3 Japanese DVD from Pioneer is pretty decent. I haven't watched the new R2 version yet, but Anchor Bay usually does a good job, so that version'd be a safe bet were you to spring for a code free player.

Another verison
Over the last month, I have repeatedly seen another version of Repulsion at Borders and Media Play stores in the Cincinnati area. It has a list price of $14.99. In contrast to the Koch version with Deneuve in a bathing suit, the cover features the original poster art with a straight razor and the quote "The nightmare world of a virgin's dreams becomes the screen's shocking reality!" The distributor is a company called EPI. It states on the back cover that the film has been "digitally remastered," but I am skeptical. Has anyone purchased this version of Repulsion? If so, how is the quality? Is it widescreen?
I almost purchsed this version of the film yesterday, but I was leery of the quality and picked up Die Nibelungen instead.
P.S. If this is another bootleg, who legitimately owns the rights to the film? My VHS copy is a Columbia/Tristar release. Do they still control the rights in Region 1?

Wow, interesting! Borders does list this on their bordersstores.com site, and it's in stock at several local stores near me.
Apparently EPI distributed a VHS version of this several years ago. Their DVD catalog focuses on kung fu classics like the 5 Deadly Venoms. Unfortunately, they seem to be a company that does a lot of VHS-to-DVD transfers, so I wouldn't hold out great hopes for this one. Although I would like to see a letterboxed transfer of the film...

The UK disc is very nice. In fact, amazing compared to any version I've seen.
