DVD Talk review of 'Monty Python's The Meaning of Life: 2-Disc Collector's Edition'

I read Randall F. Miller III's DVD review of Monty Python's The Meaning of Life: 2-Disc Collector's Edition at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=7480 and...

I have heard people complaining about the video quality of this movie. Like the frame freeze up. movie disc is plagued by strange picture artifacts - blurring of movement, etc. It could very well be an encoding problem with the disc itself. Did u notice it in your DVD? Thanks.

I didn't notice the video problem watching on a 65" HDTV. It must only be if you freeze it, so it's no big deal. Also, you can get DTS sound for the director's cut. I had to try a few different ways to get it to work. You have to select DTS first then select the director's cut- or vice-versa. But you can get the DTS to work for the DC!

if it only happens when paused then no problem, but I just have to ask, Does Universal have QC (quality control) Department? If so they need to fire the people who run it.

Good review but Randall keeps referring to 4 remaining Pythons.

I was just curious as to which of the 5 remaining Pythons Randall doesn't consider part of the group.

True -- but John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin are all still very much alive. Non-bereft. Not pushing up the daisies. Etcetera. Those would be your 5 (not 4) remaining Pythons.

I surmise one of two things:

A) Randall doesn't consider Gilliam a full-fledged Python, which couldn't be farther from the truth...

or...

B) He just flaked.

Heh heh...probably closer to "B". Making a typo the first time usually causes me to repeat it later. Besides, I always thought Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam were the same person! Yeah, that's it...
