DVD Talk Limited Edition
I have seen the 1st C DVD release and love it, but I have never bought it for my collection. Over the past 3 1/2 years I have bought many old movies on DVD, so it looks like I will have to add it to my stash of DVD on Aug 5th.
I find many of the older movies to have a different kind of entertainment, most of the time they take you to a different kind of life that is simple and straight forward. The filming of the movies are have longer shots per sceen and do not worry about cutting back and forth. The charcters are very well defined in what role they play in the movies.
The extras look awesome on this new release!

BTW :Even though I already have the original (and the You Must Remember Disc doc is on that version) this is one DVD I have no qualms about upgrading.

I've read a few comments about this review of mine and I'll tell you guys (and possibly gals) what...I'll go take some screen shots from this version and compare them with the old one (it'll probably be up tomorrow).
But the original DVD did have pretty good picture quality, too.

Pretty good reviews, but I always thought that the current transfer looks great. WB needs to restore the Maltese Falcon transfer. I'll probably get this for the extras.

Matt, did you get those pictures taken? I'm really interested in seeing if there is any difference in picture quality. I own the current Casablanca disc and will probably pick up the 2-disc version just for the extras but am interested if the video is different as well. Thanks!

www.dvdfile.com has a nice review up too. I've been cutting way back on purchases lately but I think I'll have to swallow this one, looks fantastic!

Ok - I have both Singing in the Rain and Casablanca in their original one disc releases.
Do I need to get the newer ones?

The commentary by Roger Ebert is fantastic. The little insites he gives to the movie and actors that played in the movie made for an enjoyable commentary experience.
The movie looked great (one of the dark screens were grainy, but that is the way the movie was.
The sound was clear, sharp and easy to understand the dialog, unlike some recent movies that just came out on DVD.
I have yet to watch any of the other extras, but I will get around to it in the next few weeks.
The 2 DVD set give the viewer atleast 6 hours of non-stop veiwing enjoyment.
