Is Once Upon a Time in America a good blind buy?

I am considering buying this movie, but havent made up my mind yet. I would appreciate any comments or recommendations on the movie and DVD. Not having seen it yet, it seems like a movie I would enjoy, however the length of the movie has me wondering a little bit about it.

I had never seen any version of it and picked up this dvd, thought it was a terrific movie. Long, yes, but enjoyable. DVD Verdict gave it a very good review:

I bought it as a blind buy and was very happy. I was a little worried about the length of the movie, but I didn't even notice while watching it.

Rent it. Trust me. Its not very much to rent. For me it was one of those "what the hell is everyone praising this for?" kinda movies. Just rent it.

i think it was ok... not the greatest, but more on above average

the story itself is good, acting is great (De Niro + Joe Pesci + James Wood = can't beat that)

but the movie itself left me on hangin'
it makes me wanting some more....

picture & sound transfer is ok too...

the only rant i can give is the extras... don't get me wrong the extras are great, but the italian-to-english translation is... bad...
heck, i even can understand Jacky Chan's english more then this guy (whoever did the translation)

hope it helps

it is a good gangster movie though... compare with godfather & good fellas
