Highbrow/Lowbrow Recommendations needed

I was at Tower the other day and I noticed they had Zhang Yimou's To Live. I think this is a recent release -- it's a bare bones disc. Is this movie any good? I'm interesting in checking out the "Fifth Generation" films from Chinese directors. Which Region 1 movies would you recommend.

I also noticed some Roger Corman movies -- mostly chicks-in-prison exploitation movies. How is the picture quality on these discs? I noticed that alot of these movies are full-frame; was that the OAR? What are the best exploitation movies?
