Jason,
Might be a good idea to also mention the issue with the metal case tearing the plastic case inside. |
I have the bare-bones edition, so I was interested to read that it's a much better transfer. However, I was irritated to see that the access to the theatrical version is through an easter egg! Come on, you'd think that studios would realize that it's just not cool to put MAJOR features in easter egg access format - fine for little clips or jokes, but not for a whole movie! Argh.
Anyway, aside from that rant, I was curious about the merit of the "extended edition." Does the added 16 minutes improve the film, worsen it, not do anything in particular...? |
Hi guys, thanks for the comments. Geoff, I'll add that information, but as you know, I just have the discs for now--I haven't yet experienced the packaging for myself. When the packaging arrives, I'll be sure to give it the once-over.
Holly, I chose not to cover the extended scenes since they've been covered in reviews of previous releases. But now that you mention it, perhaps I should add a few lines to describe them. I'll get right on that. |
also since you gave it such high marks for the most part, you think just "reccomended" isn't enough.

As I explain in the first paragraph of the review, the reason is that although the set offers *some* improvements over the Ultimate Edition, it also (in my opinion) stumbles by dumping some cool extras and essentially wasting disc 2 with a feature that MANY consumers won't use. I think Artisan should have simply tried out the HD version on its own separate release, to more accurately gauge interest. -smile- |

I just got this DVD and this will be my second T2 aside from the Ultimate Edition with the metal case. One of the reason I got this is that this is my best movie and also it has a cool metal case, good for my collection.
Also this is an amazing forum... |
 - Jason, loved your blurb about the case!!!!!

T2 Extreme Edition Case
I wrote [email protected] requesting a replacement for my damage amaray case and cover art last sat. they have not responded. Anyone know if Artisan has intentions of replacing the damaged cases. I've returned my T2 copy twice at Target hoping to find a metal case that would not damage the plastic one....no such luck.

I ran across this DVD at Kmart today, for $7.50. Along with the BluRay disc that presumably contains the version of the movie it was mastered from.
I was amused that the back of the box trumpets that it was mastered from a new 1080p digitization. It's still an ordinary 640x480 DVD; they might as well say that it was mastered from a holographic recreation of the movie, with full sim-sense interface and smell-o-vision. :P |
