Windtalkers (3-disc) is a winner

I just bought the Windtalkers 3-disc and it is great. The movie is around 20 min. longer and adds a lot of depth to the characters. The John Woo commentary is very informative. the documetaries and making-of featurettes are top notch. I learned a lot about the code talkers from this dvd. The only real problem I had with this set is the documentaries are a little too short.

Thanks......I am awaiting my 3 Disc Windtalkers and 3 Disc Black Hawk Down from Amazon. Thanks to their Amazon Card($30.00 for being approved) the total for my order was around $24.00.

Cool. I never bought the original Wintalkers release, but I've been wishing I had. I'm definitely picking up the 3 disc set on the 20th!

I sold my original release when I saw this SE coming out. I was glad to see this thread and the comment regarding the extra footage lending to more character development. Can't wait to get it!!!

Theatrical trailer(s)
Never-before-seen director's cut with over 20 minutes of new footage
Personal on-camera introduction by John Woo
"The Code Talkers: A Secret Code of Honor" historical documentary
"American Heroes: A Tribute to Navajo Code Talkers" WWII tribute piece
"The Music of Windtalkers" featurette
Battle sequence multi-view of four key action scenes
Four fly-on-the-set scene diaries
"Actors' Boot Camp" featurette
Behind-the-scenes photo gallery
John Woo biography pages
John Woo liner notes
$10 mail-in rebate for buyers of the standard edition of Windtalkers
Widescreen anamorphic format
Number of discs: 3

I thought I read in some review that there was a free dvd offer included with Windtalkers, beside the $10 rebate for the previous release. But i haven't yet seen any details about this offer.
could be mistaken, though.

Yeah, the DVDfile review mentions that there is both a $10 rebate and an offer for a free DVD ($5.95 s/h). Hmm, maybe I can finally get Kelly's Heroes.

I hate to do this.

I hate to make fun of another DVDFile reviewer, but you simply must read the audio portion of Dan Ramer's Windtalkers review:

http://www.dvdfile.com/software/revi...alkers_de.html

If I thought he was joking, this would be damn funny. Unfortunately, I think he was being serious.

You be the judge.

Guys,

I saw the theatrical release of Windtalkers and thought it was okay but lagged a bit in places and the characters were a bit 'limp'.

Do you think the extra 20 mins will help me enjoy the movie more?

Watched it last night and I have to say the extra 20+ minutes made the movie more enjoyable. I didn't think too much of the movie after watching the first release back in October of 2002. As for the extra (I just watched disc2, behind the movie?) and it's SHORT! Why bother with a 3 disc set when they could probably combine it with the movie or the other disc. Disc 2 is like an hour long only.

An hour is still an hour! That knocks a hell of a lot of otherwise free space off a disk which could be used for the movie. Thus, more compression, ergo more artefacts.

Also, they can charge more for a 3-disk set than they can for a 2-disker
