the Osama joke is edited out of this version as well, and it doesn't even include the banned episode. Looks pretty craptacular to me.

Region two still has the Osama edit in it, but it includes the banned episode, so one out of two ain't bad. I may pick it up next time I order from the UK, but I am in no hurry. But I'd rather have an entire banned episode than a few seconds of a joke (but both would be best!)

The Osama bin Laden showtune has been cut out... that is true... you kill 3,000 people and folks tend to loose their sense of humor... go figure (I really wish it wern't so... but alas it is) ... However, remember this is set one of two coming out and I am pretty sure that the banned episode (When you wish apon a Weinstien) will be in the next set...

Where does to banned episode fit into the series cronology? Was it part of season one/two, or did it come later?

Not sure... since it was never aired it is hard to figure out where it is supposed to go... It kinda stood on it's own.. I don't think Peter is a Fisherman yet... does that help?

This episode guide places it towards the beginning of season 2.

In the UK, it's included in the season 3 set. I have no idea why they chose to put it there. Maybe they figured that since it was never actually aired they could squeeze it in wherever they had room.

yea... I kinda have the feeling that they are doing that with the second set (R1) also.
Because it never aired it can go at the end of the set, since they go by broadcast order most of the time.

I have an early copy of the R1 set, and I think too much weight is being put on the omission of an Osama gag, as well as the Weinstein episode.

How about the DVDFile claims about the truly horrible video quality?

They make it sound like it's a Madacy release.

The image quality isn't perfect, but I certainly wouldn't classify it as "unwatchable".

I haven't watched the region 1 copy, but the region 2 shimmers beyond belief. It looks like one of those SquiggleVision cartoons like Dr. Katz. The show was not animated that way and does not look like that on TV.

I was hoping the problem had to do with the NTSC-to-PAL conversion and that the region 1 would be better, but Wayne says it's just as bad.

On the fence here... The review over at HTF mentions that these jaggies, "from someone close to FG", are a part of the network masters and there's nothing that can be done. On the other hand, Josh and the folks at DVDFile are telling us that the transfers are horrible... The folks at IGN mentioned that there are jaggies o' plenty and the DVDTalk review also mentions the jaggies but says they are merely "a problem". Sigh... I was REALLY looking froward to this set but now, I don't know... I may just cancel my pre-order. $30 isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but still, I don't really want to shell out for a set full of video issues... Even if the show is THAT good, and it is... I'm torn here...

I swear I don't recall the episodes looking so jaggy when they were broadcast on TV.

Yes, there are "jaggies"
No, it is not a perfect transfer.

Is it funny? Yup!

Damn this is funny stuff. Don't sweat the image transfer problems (ie the infamous "Jaggies").

you guys are putting WAY too much bearing on the osama bit (its like 10 seconds and if you really need to see it you can download it) and the banned episode (of which you can also download) there are 28 other hilarious episodes on this dvd and its worth every single penny.
