Ridley Scott's " The Duellists' Any Reviews Yet??

Anybody find any dvd reviews yet and is this a good blind buy??

shanester 11-26-02 05:49 PM

According to amazon.com people say this film is visually stunning....Is this true??

Ridley Scott always gives us great movies to look at Gladiator,Black Hawk Down,Blade Runner, Alien, etc...

Let's hope Paramount does this film justice!!

A tremendous film, probably Ridley Scott's best. It is very measured and patient but the story it tells is important and is done so with Bravado. The performances by Carradine and especially Keitel make it a must own aside from the strong cinematography.

Hey Ron,

How's the picture quality for a film from 1977??

I'm real anal retentive when it comes to video transfers

Ps..Thank for the link..I'm going to get this one for sure along with Serpico!!

Ron-P 12-04-02 01:33 PM

I watched it last night, video is very, very nice. About the only complaint is the black level which lacks some detail and is a bit washed out. The picture has a soft look to it as well, but, for a 25 year old film, I was very pleased. Damn good film!

Peace Out~:D

I've ordered it from futureshop.ca..I'll be picking it up tomorrow along with Goldmember..

I'll probably get to it sometime next year

Ps..I've still got films from august I haven't watched yet..The Fog,Blade 2, When We Were Soldiers

I'm so freakin behind.,.it's crazy...am I the only one??

And my collection isn't even that large..I don't know where these people find the time to watch 500+ dvd's

They must be filthy rich or not working!

Thanks Tony

Now that I`ve finally finished my Buffy box set I`m going to watch in tonight and give my reviews tomorrow...

Ridley is a genious when it comes to telling a story with the camera..All of his movies look great!!....Even GI JANE..:)

shanester 12-12-02 06:38 AM

I watched it last night..Excellent movie!...Really interesting story and great performances from Carraidine & Keitel

Ridley did an amazing job visually considering he only had a $900,000 budget to work with

I also liked the "Duelling Directors" xtra with Kevin Reynolds very informative

This IS a film everybody should rent or own..It makes us appreciate Ridley`s future films more knowing where he began
