I love the movie, but did New Yorker mess up this DVD, too, or did they get it right?

...ahh... yes... <a href="http://www.chireader.com/movies/archives/2000/0500/000526_2.html">Beau travail</a>... the movie that improves each time I watch it... couldn't find a review of the R1 disc... have the UK DVD release, which is fine...

improves each time? wow, I thought it was pretty damn good the first time.

A thread at MHVF is calling it a horrible botch-job. Another thread at the Criterion Collection Forum says it's fine. Odd.

No, it's definitely a horrible botch job. It looks like hell. Bad compression I guess.
