I certainly see no deterioration in image quality over the previous version, in fact I think it is better.
The DTS is also an improvement, especially during the scene in the brothel between Oldman and Slater, and the rollercoaster scene.
Extra's are very good. My one gripe is the tendency in the ddeleted scenes section to include a whole scene when only two lines are different from the original, such as the scene near the beginning on the roof, and in the comic shop. So you can knock about 10 mins off the advertised 30 mins straight away.
Still, we do get to see rather more of Patricia Arquette (drool). And if you think I am drooling, listen to Michael Rapaport's comments on her in his commentary.
In fact, the seperate commentaries on disc 2 with Rapaport, Hopper, Pitt and Kilmer are almost as long as the movie itself as they play all of their respective scenes.
And yes, you cannot have too much Sam Jackson. Actually, the extended scene with him and Oldman before he kills the drug dealer in the hotel actually made more sense, as the drug dealer clearly winds him up, making his death seem a little less arbitrary.
Great disc - if you have the original, replace it now. No question.
