Review wanted: Tales of Terror/Fright Night 10 Movie Box Set

I picked these two individual box set:
TALES OF TERROR
"Deep Red"
"Christmas Evil"
"Web of the Spider"
"Circus of Fear"
"House on the Edge of the Park"
"Messiah of Evil"
"Die, Sister Die!"
"Lady Frankenstein"
"The Werewolf and The Vampire Woman"
"Sisters of Death"

Fright Night
"Kill Baby Kill"
"Devil's Nightmare"
"God Told Me To"
"Good Against Evil"
"Pieces"
"Kiss Me Kill Me"
"Satan's School for Girl"
"The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave"
"Cathy's Curse"
"The Ghost"

at $15 each at Border's I had the urge to purchase them. I would assume the prints for these are pretty worse for wear. Anyone have these? Knowing these are less than stellar DVD's is there any reason not to keep these box sets?

I'm curious about this myself. I understand that the transfers on theSE sets will range from fair to awful, but if anyone has any info on these specific transfers, I'd love to hear it:

TALES OF TERROR:
"Deep Red"
"House on the Edge of the Park" (Uncut?)

FIGHT NIGHT:
"God Told Me To"
"Pieces"

I might have to pick these up. Unless YOU stop me!

the aspect ratio listed at videouniverse.com is 1.33
for both sets but maybe they snuck some widescreen versions in.

I know that the God Told Me To transfer from the Total Movie 40 pack was some godawful aged tv copy, this one hopefully isn't the same

I own all 3 Sets: Tales of Terror, Vault of Horror and Fright Night

The quality of films are not perfect but they are not bad either! Plus, "House on the Edge of the Park" is widescreen (not anamorphic). I don't know whether it is uncut or not but all the nudity were there....

Did you have any trouble playing the "Messiah of Evil" disc in the Tales of Terror set? Mine locks up about 2/3 of the way through (during the theater scene). I can't go to the next chapter (by skipping or going through the chapter selections) or access any time frame beyond that point. There are no scratches on the disc, so I don't know if I just got a bad one or if it's a glitch in all the sets.

As for the quality of the films, they range from decent (for the price) to bad.

I'm not sure if House on the Edge of the park is uncut or not, since this is the only copy I've seen. The running time listed on the IMDB is roughly the same as the disc, so It may be.

"God Told Me To" is a surprisingly good widescreen (non-anamorphic) Transfer.

I watched "Christmas Evil" last night and thought it was better than the Troma release (which isn't saying that much). Although both versions have a fair amount of print damage, this version seemed to have a little more definition and better colors.

"Pieces" is Ok, not great but not terrible either. I think it may be the same transfer that's been available from Diamond Entertainment for awhile.

I haven't watched all of "Deep Red", but what I have seen isn't great. It's an obvious transfer from videotape (the tracking goes in and out a few times) and looks pretty muddy. If you're a fan of this film, you're much better off springing for the excellent Anchor Bay version.

All in all, at around $1.50 per movie, these sets are definately worth picking up (IMO).
