Review wanted: Cyborg (Van Damme)
has anyone seen this? I know it's not a masterpiece, it's most likely gonna be another cheesy Van Damme flick but I was just curious as to what someone thinks of it that has seen it.

Actually, the few that I have seen, I actually liked. His movies are supposed to be B action flicks. Nothing oscar worthy. The same category of Segal flicks. Mindless fun. I did see Sudden Death and Death warrant, I enjoyed both.

I have this dvd, but have not checked it out yet, so I don't know about the transfer.
As for the movie, I can say it's my favorite Van Damme movie (actually, the only one I care for) and it's a pretty decent movie as far as B Action movies go.
If you need a more thorough review, I'll try to watch the disc for the transfer, and give you more of a heads-up on the plot and stuff.

I used to have this dvd. The transfer is ok, nothing to brag about. As far as Van Damme films go, I think it's one of his better ones. I would say that it's decent at least.

i don't know the detail BUT i'm hoping it would be 16X9 widesreen (sweet!) & AT LEAST 2-channel dolby digital (5.1 would be better)
in my opinion, Bloodsport is Van Dang's best movie ever... well, the original Universal Soldier is cool cause you can see Van Dang & Doplhy kicking each others' ass
hope it helps

if it is, then it was... um... not too good.
the story kind of simple (duh), but the middle part kind of dragging...
Roger was charming as ever...
the story remins me alot of Van Dang's other good movie "Lion Heart"... or something like that
slave join ino kicking-ass tournament to gain freedom & stealing golden dragon or whatever it was
it also feels like watching "Kick Boxer"...
nothing to brag about though
i watched this flick in VHS, so i don't know how the DVD quality
hope it helps

By far Van Damme's greatest movie was Time Cop. LionHeart comes in a close second but DO NOT purchase LionHeart on DVD. Remember the first release of Highlander on DVD? The transfer is the exact same, one of the worse transfers seend to date.
As for The Quest, the movie is alot like Blood Sport but it is entertaining, definately a rental.
Here is a quick top 5 list of Van Damme movies.
1. Time Cop
2. LionHeart
3. The Quest
4. Kick Boxer
5. Death Warrant
Has anyone seen The Monk yet?

I have Replicant and it is a very good movie. I have watched it 2 times and the audio and video both are superb.
On the other hand I saw The Order theother night and was a little dissaponted. I had read a good review on it but Replicant kicks it butt.

Timecop is probably his best all-around...followed closely by John Woo's HARD TARGET.
HARD TARGET-- I love his cheesy hairdo/accent/acting in it. But it was a great movie nonetheless with great action, a good villian, and a babe too!!
