Review Wanted: Ready To Rumble
 

I've heard mixed reviews on this one, with a lot of people saying they absolutely hated it and it didn't have any point. Other people saying that it was like Dumb and Dumber but worse.

What do you all think? Is it worth $8.99?

Well...$8.99 is pretty cheap. This film isn't worth dropping too much money into. The audio and video of the disc are superb. But it's hard to recommend this film to anyone: the average movie-goer wouldn't give a crap about a movie based on professional wrestling and its fans. Wrestling fans may be insulted by this half-ass presentation of professional wrestling. Wrestling fans might find their money better spent on a WWF pay-per-view DVD; others should simply stay away from Ready to Rumble.

I found the movie was funny but then again I think Arquette is funny in those 1-800 commercials. Just my opinion though.

I rented it a awhile ago (before walmart stocked it for 8.99). I thought it was a silly funny movie. I also thought that the commentary was pretty funny. Well worth 9 bucks!

if you watched WCW before it went under I would think this movie would be worth your $9. There are some funny parts in it, and a lot of wrestling superstars.

Where's the cage match?
 

I'd have picked this up if it included as a feature the PPV match between Jarrett and Page (designed to help hype the film, it used the cage gimmick from this movie). Unfortunately the film itself left a lot to be desired. I agree with Cornfed's comment that the film does not accurately depict pro wrestling in the current era. It seems to harken back to the mentality of the early 80's where many people still believed the matches weren't staged entertainment but instead actual contests, but using the current (in 1999, at least) wrestlers and settings. Some of the dumb humor was amusing, but in general not a good movie. It is better than 'No Holds Barred' though. :)
